The street-artist best known to us as Banksy must be applauded for his talent! I think is work is absolutely mind-blowing; it is incredible how thought-provoking and beautiful his creations are.

It is evident that he puts a lot of thought and detail into his work, which, as a result, gets us thinking about, questioning and appreciating life. It must be fantastic seing the man at work, planing and producing great art. I would be interested in knowing the thought-process that goes into his art - how does your mind work, Banksy? Also, how does he find the perfect location to make his point stand out? And how does he manage to speak to all of us through his "graffiti"?

"Er ist sehr begabt", we would say in German. His recent work, called 'The Girl with the Pierced Eardrums' is one that blew my mind. The original work by Johannes Vermeer (The Girl with a PearlEarring) has always intrigued me, but Banksy's twist on the matter is so great. Unfortunately, this work has already been defaced, which is a shame.

He does well in exercising his freedom of speech through his art. A modern world calls for modern art - everything Banksy has to offer.

I hope his inteligent work continues to pop up, and thus continues to inspire and touch us, making us put our thinking hats on.

GemStück's first Showcase

As some of you might already know, I had the privilege of presenting my work to an audience last weekend. I am really grateful for this experience, because it took me out of one comfort zone right into another - I enjoyed talking jewellery! The first thing we learn in school after the alphabeth and some basic maths is to read time. Knowing what-O'clock it is at any given time in the day is important in our busy life, therefore, I believe that everytime we look down for the time, we should be greeted with style. I have put together a list of Simplistic Time Classics that hit the spot! 

I am starting this list with this simple gold-plated dial with a black leather strap watch by SEKONDA. A perfect every-day watch.
